A more flexible stock rule

The following details apply here. Relaxed Spider on zichen-sz.com permits stock deals while columns are empty. The game still uses 104 cards in ten columns. The objective remains eight complete same-suit King-to-Ace runs. Choose one suit, two suits or four suits using the game controls.

The relaxed difference

The relaxed stock rule does not allow mixed-suit groups to move together. A stock card dealt to an empty column becomes that column's first face-up card. The relaxed stock rule does not change the rank requirement for ordinary moves. An empty column no longer prevents a stock deal in this variant.

Read the opening

A few details help explain this feature. The first four columns have six cards each and the remaining six have five. Only the bottom card of each opening column is face up. The stock contains fifty cards for five later deals. The opening tableau contains 54 cards.

Descending rank placement

The two cards do not need to share a suit for a single-card placement. A King needs an empty destination because no rank is higher. An exposed card may land on another exposed card exactly one rank higher. An Ace cannot receive a lower-ranked card.

Follow one suit

A break in rank prevents the entire selected group from moving together. A suit change can leave a smaller movable group at the bottom of a column. Same-suit building can reduce the work needed to separate mixed sequences later. A descending group moves as a unit only when every selected card shares a suit.

Use empty columns thoughtfully

Keep these points in mind. Any exposed card or legal same-suit group can occupy an empty column. Empty columns remain useful for separating temporary mixed builds. You may preserve an empty column until you decide to deal from the stock. A new stock row fills every empty column with one card.

Bring in another row

Dealing can block an existing sequence as well as reveal new combinations. A stock deal places one card onto each of the ten columns. You cannot direct an individual stock card to a chosen destination. Undo restores the previous arrangement when the stock-deal snapshot is available.

Clear the table

Here are the details for this mode. A complete run contains thirteen face-up cards in one suit from King to Ace. Eight collected runs are required to finish Relaxed Spider. The game removes a complete run automatically at the bottom of a column. Changing the number of suits does not change the number of required runs.

Practice the variant

The following details apply here. New game creates a fresh shuffle in the selected suit setting. Hints identify legal options without guaranteeing a win. Replay restores the same shuffle for another attempt. Random relaxed deals are not presented as guaranteed solvable.

Resume locally

Keep these points in mind. Each relaxed suit setting has its own current local game. Relaxed Spider keeps its saved games separate from standard Spider when saving is enabled. My Statistics displays relaxed starts and wins in separate rows. Privacy & Cookie Settings lets you turn saving off or clear local records.
